How to uninstall Office completely

Leftover copies and trials are the most common cause of “Unlicensed Product”. Here's how to remove them cleanly.

Uninstall from Windows

  1. Open Settings › Apps › Installed apps.
  2. Find every entry named Microsoft Office or Microsoft 365, including language packs.
  3. Select ⋯ › Uninstall for each, then restart your PC.

If that doesn't work

Microsoft offers an uninstall troubleshooter that removes Microsoft 365, Office 2021, 2019 and 2016 completely. Download it from Microsoft's page Uninstall Office from a PC, run it on the affected PC and restart when asked. It doesn't remove Office 2024; use Settings for that.

Then reinstall

Install your version again from the download link in your email, open Word, and enter your key. Full steps: install and activate Office.
