Install and activate Office

For Office 2024, 2021 and 2019 Pro Plus, Visio and Project on Windows.

Before you start

  • Have your key and the download link from your email ready. Both are also in your account.
  • Uninstall other Office versions first, including a preinstalled Microsoft 365 trial. Go to Settings › Apps › Installed apps, find Microsoft Office or Microsoft 365, and select Uninstall. Then restart your PC.
  • Close all Office apps.

Install Office

  1. Open the download link from your email and run the installer.
  2. Wait while Office installs. This can take 10–20 minutes depending on your connection.
  3. When it finishes, open Word or Excel.

Activate with your key

  1. When Office asks you to sign in or activate, choose to enter a product key.
  2. Type your 25-character key and select Activate.
  3. If Office doesn't ask, go to File › Account and select Change Product Key.

Check that Office is activated

Open any Office app and go to File › Account. Under Product Information you should see Product Activated.

Visio and Project

Visio and Project install and activate the same way. They work alongside your existing Office, as long as both use the same installation type (for example both 2021 versions).
